If your declared value exceeds it, customs duties and taxes are usually charged.

• United States: Since August 29, 2025, the de minimis rule (no duty under $800) has been removed. Even low-value shipments may now be taxed.
• Japan, Canada, EU countries: already have lower or zero-exemption limits (Japan ≈ ¥10,000; EU = always taxable).

• Entering an Appropriate Declared Value

Declaring an amount close to the actual purchase price helps faster clearance but increases duties.
Undervaluation (declaring lower than what you paid) might temporarily reduce duties but can trigger customs attention if excessive or repeated.

• If detected, additional taxes, penalties, delays, or return shipments may occur depending on the country’s customs policy.

• Customs Policy Updates Worldwide

As cross-border e-commerce grows, many countries are tightening duty-free limits and enforcement.
Korean-origin parcels follow the same international rules — please check your country’s duty rate, exemption limit, and clearance policy in advance.

• Special Case — United States

• EMS (Korea Post): Duties are prepaid based on your entered declared value and added to the shipping payment.
• FedEx / DHL / UPS: Duties are postpaid — billed upon or after delivery.

📦 Loss Compensation & Insurance

Your declared value sets the maximum amount Danzzac can compensate if your shipment is lost.

• Declared value $200 or under: No insurance needed. Danzzac covers loss up to your declared value.
• Declared value over $200: You must add shipping insurance at checkout to be compensated above $200. Without insurance, the compensation cap is $200.

⚠️ If your declared value is lower than the actual purchase price, compensation is based on the declared value — not what you paid. Undervaluing reduces your coverage.
