EMS & Sea Parcel to the USA — Duty Prepayment Notice

Effective from November 3, 2025

What Has Changed?

All U.S.-bound EMS and Sea Parcel shipments now require prepaid duties and clearance fees.
The total shipping payment includes customs duties and clearance fees.

Estimated Customs & Clearance (Guide)

You can decide and enter your declared value (customs value) at the time of shipping payment.
Total customs & clearance cost ≈ 15% of the declared value (duty) + 10% of that duty as Korea Post clearance fee (≈ 1.5% of the declared value) + US$1.04 (VAT excluded).
This totals approximately 17–19% of the declared value. The exact amount will be shown when you enter your declared value during payment.
Because the duty is prepaid, you will not need to pay any additional customs duty upon delivery.

About Gifts Under $100

If your declared value is under $100, you may choose to mark the shipment as a gift when making your payment.
When marked as a gift, no customs duty will be applied, but Korea Post charges a US$1.04 clearance fee (VAT excluded), which is included in your payment.
However, the final determination is made by CBP (U.S. Customs). If the gift declaration is not accepted, the package may be returned or subject to duties upon arrival.

Cost & Declaration Notes

EMS generally has lower clearance fees than private couriers such as FedEx or DHL.
Duties are calculated and included based on your entered declared value. However, CBP may re-evaluate the value or request additional checks (e.g. FDA inspection), which could result in extra charges upon delivery.

미국행 EMS, 선박소포는 관세·통관요금을 선납하는 방식으로 진행됩니다.
배송비결제시 관세가 포함됩니다.

통관비용(가이드)

세관신고금액 (Declared Value) 는 배송비결제시 고객님께서 결정 및 입력하실 수 있습니다
세관통관 총금액 ≈ 신고금액의 15% (관세) + 우체국 통관수수료: 관세의 10% (≈ 신고금액의 1.5%) + US$1.04 (부가세 별도)
세관신고금액의 약 17~19% 수준이며, 결제시 세관신고금액 입력하시면 확인하실 수 있습니다.
기본관세가 포함되어 결제되므로, 배달시 따로 추가관세없이 배송받으실 수 있습니다.

100달러 이하 선물 표시

세관신고금액 100불 이하에서 고객님께서 선물표시 여부를 선택하실 수 있습니다.
선물표시하여 발송시 관세는 없으나 우체국에서 수수료 US$1.04(부가세별도) 를 청구하고 있으며, 결제시 포함됩니다.
선물표시하여 발송하더라도 최종 판단은 CBP에서 하며, 인정되지 않을 경우 반송 혹은 수취시 관세부과될 수 있습니다.

비용 및 신고 유의사항

EMS는 일반적으로 FedEx/DHL 등 특송 대비 통관 수수료가 낮은 편입니다.
고객님이 입력한 세관신고금액에 따라 관세가 계산되어 포함되므로, CBP 에서 물품의 금액을 재산정하거나 FDA검사등 통관에 필요한 추가요금이 발생하는 경우 수취시 추가관세는 부과될 수 있습니다.
