⚠️ Important: Only bona fide gifts ≤ $100 may qualify for exemption; criteria are strict.

🚚 EMS & Sea Parcel (Korea Post) — Resumed + DDP

EMS and Sea Parcel to the USA have resumed (Korea Post notice as of Oct 23, 2025)
DDP mandatory: duties & clearance fees must be prepaid in Korea before dispatch.
Final duty amount is unknown until postage is paid and the package is submitted & accepted by Korea Post.

Temporary Conditions (until system upgrade)

Pay the shipping fee as usual.
Maintain a customs deposit.
Deposit: ≥ 50% of the declared value, minimum ₩100,000.
After acceptance, we deduct the actual duty from your deposit.
CBP may re‑evaluate and charge additional duties.

System roadmap: Korea Post plans a system upgrade during November, after which shipping payment including duties may be possible. Until then, EMS and Sea Parcel can be shipped under the temporary conditions noted above.

📦 Express (FedEx) — Current Guidance

• FedEx account number required (create one here)
• FedEx often charges customs duties after delivery is completed.
• About 50% of shipments are currently delivered without duty upfront, but a duty bill is expected later.
• About 10% experience random inspections with customs delays (often 10+ days).
• Final duty amounts can be unpredictable.

💰 Customs & Clearance Guide — EMS / Express

You can decide and enter the declared value at the time of shipping payment.

📮 EMS (Korea Post)

Current Guide:
• Total: 15% of declared value (duty) + 10% of the duty as Korea Post clearance fee (≈ 1.5% of declared value) + US $1.04 (VAT excluded).
• Rough estimate: ~17–19% of declared value.
• May vary by country of origin, item category, and changes in Korean tariff rates.

🚚 Express (FedEx/DHL/UPS)

Total: Declared value × 15% + category base duty (if any) + Customs brokerage fee

• Duties are based on the declared value as a first criterion; however, CBP may reassess based on HS code/brand/market prices.
• Express carriers typically charge a brokerage fee (≈ $10–$30).

🎁 Gift Exemption Rules

$100 gift exemption requires:

Genuine gift from an individual to an individual
No commercial transaction evidence
$100 limit per recipient per day
Gift exemption is rarely applied and uncertain for now

미국행 EMS 및 선박소포가 재개되었습니다(2025년 10월 23일 우체국 공지 기준)
DDP 의무화: 한국에서 발송되기 전 관세·통관수수료를 선납해야 합니다.
최종 관세금액은 우체국에 배송비 결제 및 패키지 접수·승인 전까지 확정되지 않습니다.

시스템 업그레이드 전 임시 조건

기존과 동일하게 배송비 결제
관세 납부용 디파짓 보유
디파짓: 신고금액의 50% 이상, 최소 ₩100,000
우체국 접수 후 관세 확정 시, 디파짓에서 차감
CBP에서 재평가 및 추가 관세 부과 가능

시스템 로드맵: 11월 중 우체국 시스템 업그레이드로 관세 포함 배송비 결제가 가능해질 예정입니다. 그전까지는 위 임시 조건으로 EMS/선박소포 발송이 가능합니다.

📦 FedEx(특송)

• FedEx 고객번호 필수 (가입 바로가기)
• FedEx는 배달 완료 후 관세를 청구하는 경우가 많음
• 현재 약 50%는 일단 관세 없이 배송되나, 추후 관세 고지서가 발송될 가능성 큼
• 약 10%는 랜덤 전수조사로 통관 지연(10일 이상) 발생
• 최종 관세액은 예측이 어려움

💰 관세·통관 가이드 — EMS / 특송

세관신고금액 (Declared Value) 는 배송비결제시 고객님께서 결정 및 입력하실 수 있습니다.

📮 EMS (우체국)

현재 가이드:
• 총액: 세관신고금액의 15%(관세) + 우체국 통관수수료: 관세의 10%(≈ 신고금액의 1.5%) + US $1.04(부가세 별도)
• 대략 세관신고금액의 17~19% 수준으로 예상
• 원산지/품목, 한국 관세율 변동 등에 따라 달라질 수 있음

🚚 특송 (FedEx/DHL/UPS)

총액: 세관신고금액 × 15% + 품목별 기본 관세율(있는 경우) + 통관수수료($10~$30)

• 관세는 신고금액을 1차 기준으로 산정하나, 세관은 HS코드/브랜드/시장가 등을 근거로 재평가 가능
• 특송사의 통관수수료는 신고금액과는 크게 관계없이 통관대행명목의 수수료로, 보통 $10~$30 입니다.

🎁 선물 면세 규정

$100 이하 선물 면세 조건:

개인이 개인에게 보내는 진정한 선물
상업적 거래 흔적 없어야 함
동일 수취인 기준 하루 $100 한도
시행초기라서 실제 적용 가능성이 낮고, 불확실
